About

I have a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy from the College of William & Mary. I have always enjoyed getting to know and understand people while reflecting on the "big questions" in life at the same time. I have an M.S. in College Counseling from Shippensburg University, and worked over ten years in college counseling centers. I've been in private practice for over ten years now as well, and work mainly with adults and teens, although I'm often asked if I work with children because of the sand trays and toys in my office. I also have a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia. I taught counseling full-time for several years at Shippensburg University, and part-time as an adjunct at McDaniel College for several years as well, but am currently focusing on counseling

Although I use a variety of approaches to counseling, my primary philosophy is humanistic and experiential. In a nutshell, that means I believe the relationship itself is an important part of what makes counseling work. It also means that I believe the best place to look - for answers to your problems, for the truth of what's working or not in your life, for how to heal wounded places, for next steps of growth or change - is within yourself. I strive to be as fully present with you as possible in that process, offering connection, attunement, engagement, and guidance.
